‘There’s Nothing Wrong With Animal Cruelty’— Change My Mind’
Banner at Joey Carbstrong’s street stall

Joey Carbstrong (real name Joey Armstrong) is a vegan influencer and animal rights advocate well known for his YouTube channel. For the past seven years, he’s appeared in countless videos and TV interviews talking about animals rights issues and urging people to go vegan.

He’s smart, articulate, approachable and always up for friendly debate. A recurring theme on his YouTube channel is the street debate. Typically, he will set up a table in a busy high street and invite people to sit down and debate the issues with him.

Examples of the kind of banners which he tends to have on the front of his tables say:

If you’re not vegan you support animal abuse — prove me wrong.

and

Eating fish is cruelty to animals — prove me wrong.

Members of the public will sit down and discuss with him their justifications for eating meat and other farmed animal products. Time and time again, you see people churning out the same old ‘justifications’ — it’s traditional, they’re ‘just’ animals, we need to eat meat to be healthy, other animals eat meat — you know the excuses. You’ve heard them all before.

Joey’s heard them all before, too. Anyone who’s been vegan for any length of time at all has heard them all before. I’ve written about them multiple times here on Medium in articles such as:

11 Things Nobody Cares About Until They Learn You’re Vegan

and

Stop Blaming The Lions

and

10 Reasons NOT To Go Vegan

The reasons and excuses people give for NOT being vegan are uniformly unjustifiable, unscientific and unethical yet, as Joey Carbstrong says in this latest video, although he has spent the last seven years trying to prove to people that ‘animal cruelty is wrong’, he has not had as much success as he hoped.

It seems that no matter how irrefutable the arguments are for being vegan, people carry on eating animals anyway.
