A piece of someone’s rib — what many people would call a ‘chop’ or cut of ‘meat’

I got called a POS this morning on Bluesky.

In response to a post I’d made about veganism, someone replied saying they would like to be vegan but had a lot of health issues and were concerned about getting all the nutrients they needed.

Thinking I was being helpful and encouraging, I replied with some advice and suggestions.

I mentioned that it’s important not to just cut out animal flesh from your diet and eat only what’s left on your plate. Some people actually do this and it’s obviously a recipe for disaster.

I stressed the need for a balanced diet whether we are vegan or not and mentioned that there is no essential nutrient in animal flesh that cannot be obtained as part of a healthy, balanced vegan diet.

And that’s when she called me a POS and blocked me.

She claimed it was because I used the term ‘animal flesh’ instead of ‘meat’.

She said that’s why people hate vegans. And she’s probably right.

People don’t like to be reminded about who they are eating. They prefer to hide behind euphemisms and refer to what they are eating, rather than whom.
