Peace Pilgrim was an American pacifist and spiritual teacher who dedicated her life to promoting peace. She is best known for her vow to “remain a wanderer until mankind has learned the way of peace.”

In the early 1950s, Peace Pilgrim began her pilgrimage, walking across the United States and Canada for 28 years, covering over 25,000 miles and promoting peace through her speeches and personal interactions with people.

Peace Pilgrim’s message centred on the idea that inner peace is the key to world peace and that individuals have the power to bring about change by working on themselves and spreading love and kindness in their interactions with others.

Peace Pilgrim was born as Mildred Lisette Norman, on July 18, 1908 in Egg Harbor City, New Jersey, USA. She reportedly had an interest in spirituality and peace from an early age and was drawn to various religious and philosophical traditions.

After graduating from high school, she attended college and later worked in various jobs, including as a secretary and a social worker. However, she felt a strong calling to dedicate her life to promoting peace and decided to become a wandering peacemaker.
