This is probably where we differ most in our experiences. I long ago lost count of the times when I personally witnessed police arresting peaceful protestors when there was literally no evidence of any crime. Many times these cases were dropped, or charges were never even brought. Those that did get to court were frequently dismissed or found not guilty. I've also seen horrible violence and injuries caused by individual police officers to nonviolent, pacifist protestors who were posing zero threat. I've also lost count of the number of times I've seen blatant crimes committed in front of police officers, or a refusal to take action when there is clear photographic or video evidence. I used organised hunting with hounds as an obvious and ongoing example. It's been illegal in the UK for 20 years and there is endless footage of the hunts clearly hunting when they claim to be merely following scent trails, yet how many have been arrested for it?

I don't doubt your own integrity during your years in the police force. I hesitated to send you this article as I didn't want to put you in an arkward position, and I appreciate you publishing it unamended. But in my experience, there are a lot of officers who are not as honourable or as fair as yourself.
