Another Example Of The Depths To Which Humans Will Stoop
Although I’ve been campaigning for animal rights for close to four decades, now, I still occasionally come across some new aspect of human depravity, some hithertofore unknown expression of the depths to which humans will stoop in their abuse of our fellow Earthlings.
An example of such an abhorrent practice concerns the use of so-called ‘Judas Goats’ or ‘Judas Sheep’.
I saw some video footage posted by Angie Karan on Twitter of a ‘Judas Sheep’ in action and did some research to find out what was going on. Essentially, a tame goat or sheep is trained to lead newly-arrived flocks to their slaughter.
Sometimes it will happen that a new batch of animals will be grazed for a day or two on a nearby pasture before being killed. The Judas goat or sheep will be sent out among the flock. When the time arrives, the stockmen will call and the Judas animal will lead the rest of the flock right into the killing pen, slowly at first to build up their trust and then with increasing momentum.
Sometimes, the flock will be led onto a truck for transport, but always the end goal is their murder. It means that a herding job which would normally take seven or eight paid people to carry out can be done (for free) by an animal slave.
