Thanks for this insight, George. I thought about opening a Mastodon account a while back, when everyone started talking about it, but fell at the first hurdle of selecting a server. I just had no frame of reference for how to choose one. I have to say that your article hasn't sold me on Mastodon - especially the bit about slow speeds. As much as Musk keeps pissing me (and everyone else) off with his horrible antics, I find myself still sticking with Twitter for now...
