Thank you for this inspiring article. After months of barely writing anything at all for Medium, hopping around between social media accounts, stressing about needing to build and monetise email lists and the best ways or platforms to do it, I've tentatively started dipping my toe back in the inviting waters of Medium again.
Looking for tips from so-called 'successful' so-called 'writers' here, I've been fed loads of advice (and examples) revolving around writing little and often, writing 'almost-clickbait' titles, creating and then solving pain-points, feeding the algo... You know the stuff.
Right from the outset, I'm in danger of being swept up into the stressful world of the content production machine again, albeit with new tweaks.
Your article has convinced me there's a much better way - a more genuine and heartfelt way. I love the idea of writing only for Medium - it's liberating. It feels like a weight being lifted off my shoulders.
The alternative of frenetic posting on X, angling everything towards list-building and eBooks, and feeling like a failure because I'm not selling a course, and all that other nonsense... I so want to be done with all that.
The picture you paint is one of simplicity and integrity, and God knows the world needs more of both.
Thanks again :)
