Talking of harming others, there is another story in the Bible (Deuteronomy 13:12-16) which I didn't include in this piece, in which the Israelites are instructed that if people in neighbouring town are worshipping idols or another god, then everyone in the town is to be killed and the town burnt to the ground, never to be rebuilt.
