Pfizer Accused of Profiteering

But Should We Really Be That Surprised?

Pfizer are in the news again today, accused of profiteering, and people are outraged. It appears that the pharmaceutical giant has been making obscene profits from ineffective, inadequately tested and harmful products… but should we really be surprised at this?

The revelations come after a court order forced Pfizer to release 80,000 pages of documents which the company wanted to keep hidden from the public for 75 years.

The court order came after the group, Public Health and Medical Professionals for Transparency, filed a request under the Freedom of Information Act.

These documents revealed that during the first quarter of the year Pfizer made an obscene $7.86 billion in profits. That’s profits, mind you, not revenue — their total revenue for that quarter was approximately $26 billion.

The company expects their Covid-19 vaccine, Comirnaty, to generate around $32 billion in sales this year, plus another $22 billion or so from their new antiviral drug, Paxlovid.

Pfizer’s total projected revenue by the end of this year is somewhere around $100 billion.

These figures might be shocking , but the revelations contained in the reluctantly-released documents which Pfizer are…
