Oh dear... This article and its arguments are all over the place, aren't they?
On one hand, you argue that veganism wasn't invented by white people as there is a rich history of cruelty-free , plant-based diets in many communities of colour around the world. I agree. You also talk about how black families pass down recipes as part of their cultural heritage - yet for some reason, you only apply this to the passing down of meat-based recipes (like pigs' feet and intestines). Why ignore the passing-down of traditional vegan recipes from generation to generation?
You talk about the difficulty of going vegan when you might not know any other successful vegans in your social circle. Why is it you think this only applies to people of colour? The total number of vegans only make up around 1% of the population in the UK. I suspect this is fairly representative of most western countries. Most people, regardless of their race, grow up without vegan role models. Certainly, when I went vegan I didn't know any other vegans among my family, friends or work colleagues (no, not even white vegans). It was years before I met another real life vegan.
It's changing now as veganism becomes more popular, but it's changing across all races. And there are a lot of vegans of colour.
Then you suddenly jump to advocating for circus animals' protection. Being vegan is about not participating the exploitation of animals. It is, by definition, a non-action. Sure, many vegans decide to protest or do direct action as an extension of their beliefs, but if you don't want to do those things it doesn't stop you being vegan. It sounds more like an excuse.
Incidentally, while vegan food can certainly be more healthy than many animal-derived foods, veganism is not a 'diet' - it's not about health. It's a stand against oppression and exploitation, and you cannot be 'part-time' vegan. You're either against exploitation and strive to live your life in a way that is consistent with that, or you're not, in which case you continue to eat meat, dairy and eggs and thus pay for the whole cycle of cruelty to be perpetuated.
