Obviously in their days they didn't have the same scientific language to describe the idea that we use today, nor any conception of supercomputers, but I feel that what they were saying could conceivably be compatible with the simulation hypothesis.
I'm not a scientist, but as I mentioned in the article, a growing number of physicists and computer scientists are starting to seriously explore this hypothesis.
I'm not making any claims either way, but I think it's a fascinating idea
