In a recent film about the urgent need to switch from animal agriculture to plant based diets, the narrator stated that on a plant-based diet we could feed an extra 3.5 billion people. Not that we could feed the current population on a fraction of the land area. No, even environmentalists seem obsessed with endless growth. It's almost taken as a given that if we can somehow, by some miracle, pull off the feat of surviving beyond the next couple of decades, then we'd still continue to rush headlong towards the next existential precipice.
