Imagine how you would feel if you confronted someone who was enslaving or killing humans. It's not something you would do and you find it abhorrent, but when you speak to them about it, they reply that rather than do nothing, rather than simply NOT killing and enslaving people, they feel it's better to do SOMETHING, like maybe treating their slaves a bit better or killing them a bit faster
