I Signed Up To Veganuary!
Here’s What I Discovered…
As most of my regular readers will already know, I’ve been vegan now for over 35 years, so it might surprise you to learn that this year I signed up to Veganuary, the website/campaign/challenge/phenomenon that’s been turning people vegan since 2014.
I’ve been promoting Veganuary for the past few years as a way to help more people make the shift to veganism. I don’t get any kind of financial reward for promoting it — there’s no affiliate program or anything like that — but as a long-term animal rights advocate, I get the personal satisfaction of knowing I’m helping people do something amazing.
Most long-term vegans I’ve spoken to about it say that going vegan was the best thing they ever did — it not only helps save animals’ lives but it also radically changes our own lives in ways we sometimes could not foresee. It’s common to hear people say that their only regret about going vegan was that they didn’t so it sooner!
And yet, despite promoting Veganuary, I realised I didn’t know very much about what they actually did or how they helped new vegans on their vegan journey. I mean, I knew Veganuary was a great resource for new and aspiring vegans but for seasoned veteran vegans like myself, I just didn’t think there was any reason to sign up.
