I don't know whether the spectre of imminent nuclear war is in the US news as much as it is in Europe right now, but I would imagine that even the increase in conventional war that's likely to escalate as resources become scarcer is likely to speed up the whole process at an exponential rate.

What interests me is how we will conduct ourselves not just as a species or as a society, but as individuals in the days of our final demise. Will it be our divine nature or our bestial nature which rises to prominence?
