I don't doubt that the vast majority of people in Africa are not vegan, just as the vast majority of people in my own home country, the UK, are not vegan, despite it being one of the most 'vegan-friendly' countries in the world. That is precisely the point - that's why we're fucked. You imply that you cannot get B12 from a vegan diet because you don't want to eat 'processed foods' yet we're talking about things like B12-enriched plant milks, which are literally raw almonds, oats or soya beans blended with water. That hardly constitutes processed food. You posted a link claiming vegan diets showed 'no differences' for 'other' health outcomes (apart from depression and anxiety) yet clicking on that link, the second sentence I read starts, "Although they provide beneficial health effects...". The beneficial health benefits of cutting out meat and dairy from our diets are so widely proven by multiple peer-reviewed studies that they are hardly worth mentioning again. But the article wasn't about veganism being 'healthier' or helping us live longer as individuals - it was about the necessity of ending animal agriculture urgently if we are to survive as a species. As for vegans being more depressed, if this is actually the case, correlation does not prove causation, as we all know. Did you ever consider that vegans might be more depressed because we see all the death and suffering and destruction in the world, we know how easy it is to not be a part of that, and yet we are continually bombarded with excuses about why people won't make that change. That was the entire point of the whole article. People need to drive their cars less, stop polluting the oceans, take more political action, reduce deforestation AND move rapidly to a plant-based diet. These things can all be done, but everyone has their own reasons why they won't do them. That's why we're fucked.
