I certainly agree that writing what we learned at university isn't necessarily a recipe for success on Medium.

I've published several essays here that I submitted as university assignments and which were well-received and highly-marked by my tutors, but which flopped on this platform.

It's just not what people want to read. Academic writing rarely resonates on an emotional level.
