“Type 2 diabetes is almost always preventable, often treatable, and sometimes reversible through diet and lifestyle changes”. A bold statement made by internationally-renowned physician Dr Michael Greger M.D. FACLM, in his best-selling book, ‘How Not To Die’.

Indeed, it’s such a bold statement, and so far removed from the view which so many people (including doctors and other health professionals) commonly hold about this extremely common killer disease, that you might be forgiven for doubting it, if it wasn’t for the fact that it’s backed up by extensive clinical research and proven real-world results from a whole host of top physicians and scientists.

Type 2 diabetes accounts for 90% of total diabetes cases in the population. Incidence has risen dramatically in the last few decades, from 108 million in 1980 to 422 million in 2014 (according to the World Health Organisation). That’s around 6% of the global population. In 2019 it was the ninth leading cause of death, directly responsible for around 1.5 million fatalities.

So it’s a major concern.
