Climate Change

How Long Before the First Just Stop Oil Martyr?

Things are getting crazy out there

Love them or hate them, it’s hard to ignore them — Just Stop Oil are in the news every day now, here in the UK.

All over the country, activists are popping up at sporting events, blocking roads, gluing themselves to things, sabotaging the oil and petrol industry, and more.

Trying to force change.

Trying to save the world.

The problem is, while everybody wants change, nobody wants TO change.

The inconvenience being experienced right now outweighs the catastrophe to be suffered later.

So people are resisting.

They’re seeing climate activists as the enemy.

Tempers are boiling over and things are starting to get out of hand.

Everyone’s already frayed at the edges — it doesn’t take much extra stress before tears in the social fabric start to appear.

First there was jostling, people trying to move the protesters out of the road themselves.

Minor assaults.

When the police did nothing to stop this, motorists were emboldened. The pushing and shoving increased, became more aggressive.

Passive, peaceful protesters were pushed over.

People started getting hurt.

Still the police were seen to take no action against the perpetrators of these assaults — only the protesters.

Last week someone was punched to the ground and repeatedly kicked by an angry motorist.

Shortly after that another group of protesters was driven into by a bus.

A f**king BUS!

I can’t help wondering how long it will be before someone gets killed.

It won’t be the first time. Several animal right activists have been killed while peacefully protesting.

Jill Phipps — driven over by a lorry while protesting against live exports.

Regan Russell — mown down by a truck driver while demonstrating outside a slaughterhouse.
