Here in the UK the Government banned fur farming in 2000 (although the Act didn't come into effect until 2003). Whilst this was a historic moment, the Act was only passed because there was only one surviving fur farm left in the UK and it was under constant pressure to close down (it actually closed in 2001, two years before the statutory deadline). Even now, though, it is still legal for retailers to sell fur here, making a bit of a mockery of the ban on fur farms. Still, step-by-step...
