SPIRITUAL GROWTH
Glimpses of Eternity
A reminder of how easily we can miss the precious moments of our life
Early Spring.
The bright pearl of the world is held suspended in expectant stillness.
Even the tiny wren, whose trills and warbles have delighted the very air this past week, has fallen silent.
I sit and wait, letting the strengthening sun warm my spirit against the remnants of Winter’s chill. A slow smile begins deep in my soul.
The Old Cat sits on a post nearby, tolerating my presence in the companionable way of a trusted friend who values their own space.
It’s an old joke that there are three levels of enlightenment — the mundane awareness of us ordinary folk, then Zen masters, and above that, cats.
Like many jokes, it has an element of truth.
My mind drifts back to memories of the long-gone, when moments like this seemed more common. Glimpses of Eternity, frequently repeated. Long sojourns in The Absolute.
