Free Humans— The Ultimate Lifestyle Narcissists

Is freedom really just the liberty to do whatever you like and fuck the consequences?

I came across a disturbing channel on YouTube recently in which a woman jet-sets around the world calling herself a ‘Free Human,’ meeting and interviewing other ‘Free Humans’ along the way.

I guess it’s meant to be uplifting and inspirational, but the more I watched of it, the more I started to feel repulsed by the whole shebang.

Sorelle Amore is a digital nomad from Australia who lives part-time in Iceland. The rest of the time, she travels around the world surfing, diving and making videos.

In some of those videos, she talks to other ‘free humans’ — people like her, who’ve made a living while being free-divers, models, running luxury van companies, travel agencies.

One woman she interviewed travels the world doing yoga!

Another built a luxury house in El Salvador and now encourages flocks of people from all over the world to fly to luxury locations for snowboarding, skiing, surfing and the like.

These ‘lifestyle gurus’ have huge followings and obviously appeal to a lot of people, but all I could think was, “Have they never heard of the climate emergency?”
