I just watched a very disturbing video on YouTube which made me shake my head in despair, not for the first time, at the hopeless insanity of my fellow human beings.
It seems that inflation in Thailand is now so high that many people, already struggling with everyday living costs, are finding the price of pig and chicken meat prohibitively expensive.
Now, you might think that in a country like Thailand, which has a rich and varied tradition of delicious vegetable-based foods, rice, noodles, soups, curries, salads, spring rolls and an amazing variety of other meat-free options, this wouldn’t be a problem.
Many of you will be familiar with Durian Rider, Freelee the Banana Girl and the Chiang Mai Fruit Festival, which used to see vegans from all over the world flocking to Thailand to enjoy the abundance of plant-based fare on offer there.
Regardless of what you think about Harley and Leanne or any of the crazy and, some might say, narcissistic influencers which seemed to be all over vegan YouTube at that time, their videos made one message clear — Thailand offers something of a vegan paradise.
