Burger King Goes 100% Vegan

An Austrian Burger King store has become the first branch of the fast food giant to go entirely 100% vegan for as long as demand persists.

The ground-breaking store in Westbahnhof, Vienna converted to an entirely plant-based menu to meet the growing vegan demand. All the old stock was cleared out and all surfaces and equipment thoroughly cleaned to prevent any chance of contamination by animal products.

The store has no fewer than 14 different vegan burgers, along with salads, wraps, dips, desserts and Ben & Jerry’s dairy-free ice cream so that anyone can enjoy the authentic BK taste in a way that’s healthier, better for the planet and cruelty-free.

The burgers and nuggets are provided by Dutch brand The Vegetarian Butcher and there will vegan bacon from French brand La Vie.

Burger King has been providing vegan options for a long time and earlier this year they trialled a 100% plant-based store for one month in London’s Leicester Square. There have also been similar trial runs in Switzerland and Spain, and in Belgium one in three Whoppers sold are plant-based, so they know the demand is there.

This has given them the confidence to open this new vegan branch, which they say will stay open indefinitely, for as long as the demand remains. Given that demand for plant-based food only seems to be…
