Backyard eggs from rescue hens... I wouldn't condemn anyone for that, but I do think that what is needed is a radical change in how we conceptualise flesh, mammary secretions, eggs, etc. That people see these things as 'food' in the first place is disturbing to me. I mean, eggs are basically birds' periods and I'd like to think that someone who had rescued chickens and cared for them respectfully would no more desire to eat their menstrual waste than they'd desire to eat human menstrual waste. It's a weird and sick thing to do IMO and I think it's more useful to explain to people why you do NOT eat those chickens' eggs than to think, "Oh yummy... free food!"
It's similar to my philosophy about eating roadkill, which I covered in another article... It's not inherently unethical, but it denegrates animals' bodies to mere commodity rather than respecting them as fellow Earthlings.
