Last week, three activists from Animal Rising rescued three of ‘the king’s sheep’ from slaughter.

Actually, the sheep were just babies — lambs only a few weeks old, but rapidly approaching the age when they were due to be slaughtered. Lambs bred for the meat industry are routinely killed from just ten weeks old.

Millions of babies just like these are butchered every year before they even reach adulthood. Before they’ve even had a chance to live their lives.

These three lambs were rescued from Appleton Farm on the royal estate of Sandringham in Norfolk, the private country retreat of King Charles III and Queen Camilla. Unsurprisingly, the action got quite a lot of press attention.

“They stole the King’s sheep!”

Animal Rising claim that Britain is a nation of animal lovers. In fact, this idea that Britain is a nation of animal lovers is an oft-quoted trope. So you’d think that the public would be behind the action of these three compassionate and brave women.

After all, you don’t get much more loveable than a baby lamb!
