What’s the difference between a husky and a wolf?

The internet is up in arms today after a woman mistakenly shot a husky instead of a wolf.

During a hunting trip to Montana, Amber Rose Barnes shot and skinned the dog, before posting the photos on Facebook to brag that “I just smoked a wolf pup.”

Barnes had set out with the intention of killing a predator, preferably a bear, but came across the domestic dog first. Lining up the unfortunate animal in her sights, heart pounding, presumably, with anticipatory bloodlust, she failed to spot that the quarry she was about to blow away was not a fearsome wild beast, but actually a domestic dog.

After skinning the dog and throwing their lifeless body in the back of her flatbed truck, she posed for a selfie, rifle in hand and posted it on Facebook. If she was expecting showers of admiration and congratulations, she was in for a shock.

People were quick to point out that this fearsome apex predator she had just ‘smoked’ and skinned was no more than a domestic dog. Fox News picked up on the story, quickly followed by other news outlets around the world, and the killer was inundated with messages from angry and upset members of the public.
